Without Hitler making a presence after his imprisonment, the German economy was doing great; industrial production, wage increases, and public spending contributed to a better German welfare state. Culture thrived with the increase of sporting events, cinemas, and dance halls. Having only a minute portion of the population as supporters, Hitler's political faction seemed almost non existent; but this does not mean that the party is completely dead.
People out there still fervently supported Hitler and so he "became incontestably established as the leader of the radical Right" (259). The NSDAP also became some sort of leader party, and Hitler was indisputably "The Leader" in the same sense one would say "God". It was amazing how Hitler didn't really lift a finger to rebuild his party, but in the end, his party ended up having twice as many members than it ever did before. Through his connections, he eventually managed to lift the ban of his party, and refounded the party. This action prompted a flood of loyalty decorations to his side.
Hitler now had a strong and steady support situated in Bavaria. And when he asked Gregor Strasser to organize the party in the north, the result was more than expected. Everything that happened after Hitler's imprisonment seemed to be thrust into a larger scale. And everything that happened was favorable towards him. Hitler now had a circle of people who were capable of performing work for him; and now all he had to do was wait for a crisis that he would take advantage of.
